Cubs District Cycle Ride
5th June 2016
District Cycle Ride will start and finish at Middleton Cheney Village Hall car park.
The event is free of charge.
The route is 12 miles long with a drinks stop at 6 miles. This is further than last year and is likely to take between 2 to 3 hours to complete. It is harder than last year.
There are two steep down hills. (Both hills have small sections which exceed 10% gradient but are wide and straight)
Some cubs may prefer to walk down the steeper section.
As a result all bikes must have a working back and front brake. All bikes will be inspected at the start of the ride. All Cubs must be able to demonstrate their ability to control their speed on their bike and control their direction of travel safely
All riders Adult and Cub must wear a helmet.
Cubs should wear bright clothing but a hi-viz vest is not compulsory.
Siblings and parents are welcome but must be able to meet the safety requirements above
There will be marshalls at two busy crossing points. Cubs should walk across these junctions
There will be marshalls at the beginning of the steep parts of the hills
Marshalls will also warn of other obstacles such as pot holes
A broom wagon will follow the ride in case anyone needs to drop out or is unable to continue
Cyclists may no drop behind the broom wagon and may not go in front of the lead cyclists
