About Us
The 3rd Bicester Scout Group were formed on 10th April 1983 and in 2013 we celebrated our 30th anniversary. Back in 1983 Bicester was a rapidly expanding town, with the Glory Farm estate springing up around the then new Glory Farm Primary School. This influx of young families led to demand for another local Scout Group and 1983 saw the formation of three sections: Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to cater for the growing local community.
In the 1990's the Scout section transferred to the newly formed Southwold Scout Group, but in 2014 Scouting will return to 3rd Bicester, to meet growing demand for Scouting within the still expanding town.
Today, the 3rd Bicester Beaver Colony caters for both boys and girls aged 6 to 8 taking their first steps in Scouting. On attaining age 8, Beavers move up to the Cub Scout Section, where they remain until age 10½ before progressing on to Scouts (10½ to 14 years old) and beyond.
